Couplings

Rigid Couplings: Rigid couplings are either integral with shaft forging (mono-bloc) or are  shrunk on to the shaft. 

rigid coupling permits neither axial nor radial mis-alignment between the shafts of the driver and driven unit.

Flexible Couplings: Flexible couplings can accommodate some misalignment but can not be an excuse for poor alignment or negligence of maintenance.
